When the Outlaws named their squad for Saturday’s match against Hull Wyke, the statisticians were immediately reaching for their record books as it became apparent that the playing squad contained no fewer than six former Outlaws juniors.
The Outlaws six included Louis O’Connor, Adam Ward and Tom Wigglesworth all on debut alongside Ali Waring and Harry Walton with Captain Coryn Ward.
Indeed Coryn was joined by brother Adam as the two brothers took to the field together, another first for the team.
Chairman Richard Johnson was quick to comment on the record, saying “It’s always nice to see one or two former juniors pulling on the shirt. However, to have six in the squad is especially pleasing and testament to the hard work that our junior coaches have put in over recent years.”
Despite a defeat on the day, all six played well, especially Tom Wigglesworth who took home the man of the match award after a fine debut performance.
