The slightly delayed April draw for Little John’s Lotto draw finally took place at the Outlaws new Lenton Lane home, just ahead of the Outlaws monthly committee meeting this week.
After all the hard work that had gone into getting the ground up and running, there was an air of relaxed calm around the hard working committee table as the members helped finish off the final remnants of the much loved Blue Bird Lenton Brewery beer that remained from Saturdays game.
Whilst erstwhile head barman George Strachan carefully poured cool pints of amber nectar, the chief adjudicator wheeled the random number generator (or “Robbie” as he is affectionately known) from the storage cupboard into the centre of the club house floor.
Those lucky enough to be watching events unfold remained enthralled as Robbie immediately set about searching the ether for the lucky winner.
Indeed, in less time than it takes to say “I will have another pint please George” Robbie magically pulled the winning ball from his bag to a spontaneous round of applause from the small band of onlooking committee members.
Closer inspection revealed the lucky ball was none other than number 35 (thirty five) and a quick check down the list revealed that the winner was Sam Campbell, former winger who has now re-located down to the big smoke but still supports the club from afar. Sam pockets a cheque for £102.50 for his good fortune
Club chairman Richard Johnson was quick to congratulate Sam on his win, commenting “I am especially pleased to hear about Sam’s good fortune. I know Sam has relocated down south but he continues to be a great supporter of the club and I look forward to him pulling on an Outlaws shirt again at some point in the future”
The Outlaws are looking to continue their improvement on and off the field. Indeed with the new ground now open and the 2018 campaign already underway funds are needed more than ever. Supporters of the club are urged to sign up and in doing so, continue to grow the game of rugby league in Nottingham.
