Following a lengthy selection process, Nottingham Outlaws RLFC are pleased to announce Olly Hopkins as the first recipient of the 2022/23 NTU Rugby League Scholarships.
The existing NTU Rugby League and former Widnes Vikings academy player is awarded entry to the program after exceling throughout the application process which eventually led to Nottingham Outlaws, Trent Rugby League Alumni Association and Nottingham Trent University universally agreeing to offer Olly a place on the program.
Richard Johnson, Chairman of Nottingham Outlaws RLFC “The quality of applications was again high for the 2022/23 Student Rugby League season and into the 2023 Yorkshire premier league campaign which shows the success of the program following the first intake of Scholars, I’d personally like to thank Joe, Ben and Ronan for the commitment over the past 12 months.”
Joe Shepherd, Head Coach of Nottingham Outlaws and NTU Rugby League added his comments around Olly’s successful application. “Olly is a tough, no nonsense front row forward, his natural athleticism and on field attitude to work hard for his teammates mean he’s capable of playing big minutes which is a huge benefit for any team. He’ll add natural aggression to both the NTU Rugby League and Nottingham Outlaws team for both upcoming seasons. Olly’s commitment off the field to growing the sport of Rugby league in Nottingham also made him an ideal candidate for the scholarship program”
